So now we're at that time of year where we watch the weather patterns and the temperatures bounce up and down and then up again for the next several weeks!

Always an adventure as lakes start opening up and we break our boats out of the mothballs

General Non-Fishing Chatter / When Boxes Look Like This
« on: January 30, 2019, 01:57:54 PM »
I got a new box in the mail today from Amazon. Inside the box was a new KastKing Spartacus Reel.

The shipping box looked perfect. The product package did not  ::)

Seriously?? I'd like to know what they did to this box before they packed it up for shipping. Then again, maybe I don't want to know!

Either way, this one's on its way back to Amazon and a new one is already on the way to replace it.

The Hawg Forum / If It Was Spring Already...

If it was Spring already, we'd all be bass fishing in the woods!!

The rain this winter is crazy, and everything is extremely high, no matter where I look. Can't even imagine what the water levels will be in the Spring if this keeps up and we have normal Spring rains

The Hawg Forum / Extra Set of Eyes On The Way

Well, after putting it off for the last few years or more, I finally ordered my first pair of prescription glasses today  :o

I've been using readers for several years, but lately it's gotten to the point where even stuff in the distance is blurry  :crying:

I despise the idea of wearing glasses full time, so I will be getting fitted for contacts soon.

None of this will alleviate the need for reading glasses, but at least I will now be able to see people's faces clearly if I see them from a distance, instead of squinting.

Can't stop the aging process, I guess  :nope:

The Hawg Forum / Well, That Was a Bust!

So much for Winter storm Harper!! Wimped out here in RI for sure.
A whopping 1 inch of snow, which is now gone, thanks to massive amounts of rain. And the 30+ MPH winds they were predicting? Didn't happen. At least not yet anyway. :nope:
Gotta say that I'm not disappointed at all.
Now, let's see if the temps drop the way they predicted. Supposed to hit the low single digits tonight and tomorrow night. Gonna be a big sheet of ice tomorrow if that happens!
On the bright side, the days are getting longer and there are only 60 days until the first day of Spring!  (giggle)

« on: December 21, 2018, 11:48:53 AM »
Doesn't look like a white Christmas this year!  :nope:

58 degrees here and high winds, with heavy showers thrown in for good measure.

December is almost gone, with only January and February left before March rolls around.

Fishing Tackle Q & A / Looped Wire Spinnerbaits
« on: November 30, 2018, 03:55:26 PM »
@toadhunter I think it was you that mentioned a trick to keep the line from wrapping around a looped eye spinnerbait. I think it was a rubber band or an O ring.
If it was you, what's the trick??

I've also heard of people using an O ring or some other kind of material to prevent open eye spinnerbaits from spreading apart and bending so easily.

Anyone hear of this or try it??
