Northeastbass.Com Classified Ads / 5 trolling motors
« on: June 08, 2020, 11:15:50 AM »
I've got 5 trolling motors , all need parts, two -Minn Kota Maxxum with lift assist 80 universal sonar 52" shaft both need control boards and new heads,  armitures and brushes are good. One -Motor Guide 101 needs steering cables, One -Minn Kota 70 all terrain 45" shaft  needs top half of head and in working order as far as I know. one- transom mount Minn Kota 55 don't know what is needs. Mother boards for the 80"s cost about 125.00, new heads are about 30.00 each. Don't have the time or energy to fix them up and sell them. The mechanics for fixing these aren't hard , great project for someone wanting to fix them up and sell them or needs a spare  to fix up. The Minn Kota 80's could sell for 500.00-600.00 each in good working condition when fixed.
300.00 for the lot of them. PM me if interested

The Hawg Forum / Proposed 10% Tax on all fishing clubs
« on: March 05, 2020, 08:24:09 PM »
Just so you know the lovely pee ant Governor Gina is trying to pass a yearly 10% tax on all gun, hunting, and yes,  FISHING CLUBS and  it's memberships. Her admin even stated  to the legislature last night at the state house "it is to reduce gun ownership here in RI". You need to contact your representatives and tell them your feelings on this matter, also the RI  Federation Sportsman Organization and RI 2nd Amendment Coalition is fighting over 20 anti gun and hunting bills introduced this year  and now she's attacking your God giving right to fish too. Fishing is next on her private agenda. You can also donate money to both groups to help fight these insane money grabbing bills. We show up strong at these hearings sometimes almost 2000 strong but we need more help. Last night we asked why they are only going after these clubs and not all clubs like golf, gym, surfing, boating and all the kind of clubs out there and their answer is that Gina feels the tax will help to reduce gun ownership here in RI . Why fishermen? apparently she sees fishermen as gun owners too.

Please think about donating to these organisations  they are fighting for sportsmen and firearm owners every single day. Also think about showing up at the state house when these are in discussion more people there the better. you can go to their websites and find out when there is a rally up at the state house

The Hawg Forum / Forgot to put the boat plug in today
« on: September 23, 2014, 08:17:02 PM »
Today I went fishing at Indian for 3 hours today, pull the boat AT 7PM and realized I DID NOT put the boat plug in. Normally I have two drains in the cockpit deck that let me know the boat is flooding from past experience. Today was different, fished three hours and no signs what so ever that the boat was taking on water. Boat doesn't have an automatic bilge pump (it will soon thou)

I looked a flow rate chart for boat holes below the waterline (   http://www.whsyc.org/Flooding/Flooding.html )  A 1" hole 1 foot below the waterline will let in 19 1/2 gallons of water per minute, thats 1170 gallons per hour.  Also it didn't take more than 5 minutes for the boat to drain once out of the water. last time I forgot to put the plug in, I had water coming up from the cockpit drains within 10 minutes.

Miracle and or mystery

The Hawg Forum / Strange to say the least
« on: July 31, 2014, 08:51:11 PM »
I'm fishing Tuckers pond Wednesday afternoon 30 July, I'm fishing  a point and cast to good sized submerged bolder in about 4 feet of water, A fish picks it up it feels like a keeper not big just a keeper and as it coming to the boat near the surface it looks to me like the fish has gotten into the weeds and is covered in weeds. I  am looking at it and it looks strange, it looks like the weeds are moving different than the way the fish is struggling. The fish is now only about 5 feet away from the boat on the surface and what I thought was weeds it a bass around 6-8 pounds ( know what a 5 lb fish looks like under the water and I want to say it went 7 to 9 lbs.) swimming along side of the fish I hooked which is only 1 1/2 lbs. I let the hooked fish continue to swim back and forth near the boat and the larger fish just keeps swimming right along side the hooked fish. I mean cheek to cheek never leaving it's side and not aggressive.  I let the hooked fish swim along side the boat a good minute. Not till I went to lip the hooked fish did the large fish swim off.

I've seen this during the spawn but the bigger fish always swims off much sooner, I had this fish swim right up to the boat and stay there. Another first for me. The only thing I can chalk it up to is they were spawning AT THE END OF JULY.  What do you guys think???

The Hawg Forum / Trokar Hooks
« on: February 22, 2014, 07:42:41 PM »
For the past couple years I've been using Trokar hooks on and off, my X partner was using them religiously. The hooks I have, were given to me a few years ago to field test. For the money they are a bit pricey or I should say very pricey. $10.00 on average for four  to six hooks is steep price to pay. The thing I noticed is they don't hold a sharp point. I used mostly  EWG hooks and my partner used most of their styles.

I had noticed he would change his hooks often seeing a lot of discarded hooks on the deck of the boat during the day. I had realized sometimes when I would check a hook it had lost it's points sharpness. I had picked up about a dozen used flipping hooks left on my deck that my partner left there, with the cost I just didn't want to throw them out. Looking at them just recently not one had a sharp point on it. These hooks weren't used very much, maybe a four hours tops each. Also a couple EWG's he left had the point rolled over. Also flipping doesn't expose the hook point to much abuse. My go to hook is Gamakatsu and I never seem to see a dull hook.

Anybody out there have any input on Trokar hooks? Curious to see what somebody else has to say. They are super sharp coming out of the package but what good are they if they can't hold a point at least for day of fishing, especially for the price you have to pay for them.

The Hawg Forum / Hot water
« on: July 18, 2013, 03:10:18 PM »
Hit Glasco last night for the wednesday night trail and was it hot there,  surface water temperature the highest found was 93.2 degrees with 89 being the lowest I could find. If this heat keeps up we'll be seeing some fish die offs very soon. With Glasco having no weeds, there can't be much oxygen left in the water.
