The Hawg Forum / Re: rookie mistake leads to tears!

it's funny how we beat ourselves up more for the ones that we nearly land, than the ones we truly " rookie" out know the ones i mean, the panic hookset attempts, the complete whiffs.  at least you had a great fight on your hands, and the fish remains a goal.

Hi everyone,  I'm Tom 48 years old from Springfield MA. I'm married, with two teenage girls. I have quick access to the interstate so I can be spontaneous, and pop out to any number of the ponds and lakes out this way. I'm usually up in the Berkshires ...Thousand Acre Swamp, Buckley Dunton are two of my favorites up that way. 6 years ago a friend mentioned Mill pond in Wetboro MA, and I absolutely LOVE that place. 320 acres of water, of which 250 are flooded standing timber, mostly rotted off at the water line. It's tough to navigate, and I broke the shaft on my new MinnKota Edge the first time I brought it out there. I have a 1987 Tracker Pro16 with a '06 Yamaha 25 4 stroke. I started kayak fishing 5 years ago, and find that it's the way to go. I now own 2 Wilderness Systems Tarpon Angler 12 footers, which are sit-on -top, and very stable. Give me a shout if you think you'd like to get out and paddle for some bass.

Guilty of putting the boat away too early also,in years past,  mainly because the garage becomes a giant toy box all summer, the 16 ft Tracker, 3 Kayaks, all know the scene. But I just sold my 12 ft jon boat which freed up some room, and have vowed not to pile kayaks and coolers on top of the boat until snow flies. I recently re-powered mine with a Yamaha 4 stroke, and winterizing consists of running it out of gas

Out in the kayak wednesday morning on a small pond. Caught 3 , all nice healthy keepers and very aggressive. Missed a few, I was a bit quick on the hookset. All the fish I landed were in the open pockets around the milfoil. Zoom Horny Toad in watermelon/ red flake
