I've been talking with a friend about a memorial day weekend trip to fish candlewood. I've never been there but have heard great things about the lake. Could anyone give me an idea of what to expect. I know it would probably be crazy on a holiday weekend, but it all depends on the weather. I've also noticed there are no campgrounds on the lake, any advice on a place to stay?

The lake is so good it is listed as number 7 in BASSMASTER magazine this month! Plenty of hotels that are very reasonable as well!

Ed, I've personally never been to Candlewood, but I know a lot of guys who absolutely love it! As for places to stay, hopefully someone will drop in here soon who has an answer for you.

Rocky River Motel in New Milford 20 minutes or so from the Squantz launch. Safe boat friendly run by hard working accomodating people. I would stay there with my wife, something I wouldn't say about a lot of places we stay when fishing. They have a web site......google it.u

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll definitely check it out.

Thanks for the info Eric!

You should make an effort to check Candy out, Curt. One of the most interesting places I have fished. Towns under water. The place is made for side scan. An amazing fishery given the pressure that it gets.

You're right, Eric. I really should take the time to get there sometime.
Maybe I will be able to do that sooner rather than later.
