Here are a few pics of the steps I installed.

Slipping off the trailer is never fun  :nope:

These are just basic steps that bolt onto the trailer frame to give me a way to climb into the boat from the side. I'm going to bolt them just behind my trailer fenders. My old trailer, which came with the boat, had big steps back there. And that trailer was much lower to the ground. The new trailer sits higher, so it makes it harder to climb in, especially without steps on it.

I've seen some nice little bolt-on platforms for the trailer tongue that make it easer to stand on the trailer and winch the boat on!

General Non-Fishing Chatter / Projects or Goals for 2023?

Does anyone have any projects or goals planned for the 2-23 season?

I typically have projects to complete on my boat each winter, but this winter is a bit different for me, since my boat literally only got used once for the entirety of 2022

Before I left RI in mid December of 2021, I had bought two things that I wanted to install.

1 - Step Plates for each side of my new trailer. The new trailer doesn't have any steps, so getting up into the boat is a challenge.

2 - Tilt brackets for my two Talons. This makes it easier to maintain them, allowing me to simply tilt them so I can clean and lubricate the spikes and aluminum parts.

Now that we have finally finished all of our house projects here in NC, I can finally get back to my boat projects.

Additionally, I bought a new Zero Line mapping card for my Helix, which allows me to map new lakes as I fish them. So I want to spend some time using that and getting some maps laid down on the Helix for a couple of lakes here.

I also bought some small LED lights that I wanted to install on my trailer frame, to aid loading the boat onto the trailer after dark. I never got those installed before leaving RI, either, so I want to get that done as well.

And, more obviously, I want to get the boat out more in the coming months, instead of just fishing small ponds from shore

How about you guys? Any boat projects or goals for the new season that's ahead?

It's to bad they killed it just for a line in the record books. In a youtube video the DNR rep says they were going to cut the head open and take the ear bone out to age it.

I had no idea that it wasn't released. I just don't get it. Why kill a fish like that just to find out how old it is. Does it really matter if they know how old it was?  :nope:

Not sure if this is a viable option or not, but I added this LED light to the top of one of my Talons.

I've forgotten now where I bought this light, but I might be able to dig up some info if you're interested in it. It uses adhesives to mount on a flat surface.

Cool idea! Thanks for sharing

The temps haven't been too bad it's the wind that's been keeping me off the water :P

Ya, the wind can be brutal when the temps are 50 or under. It makes it feel like it's 30

I hope you can get out one more time before you have to wrap it up for the winter!

I saw that there was a little dusting of snow in southern RI this morning?

My guess is that skim ice on the ponds will be starting soon during the overnight chilly times.

Hope to get the boat out Friday. Past week has been cold and windy but warming up a little now.

I hope you do! Time is winding down there  :crying:

I don't blame you!

Did you put your boat away yet?

I was going back through some old photos and saw that in 2009 we had a major snow storm on November 19. Looks like maybe 12-14 inches!

So far, so good for November!

A little over a week till Thanksgiving and water temps still close to 60.  Although that will change fast now!

Not too shabby at all! But you're right. They will likely drop like a rock now  (giggle)

Squeeze in as many trips as you can before it's too cold.

Looks like the fall weather is finally coming!

Summer lasted a lot longer than usual, so this weather is overdue
