Fished the Reynolds Ct. River. Big fish were elusive, bass anyways. We caught big pickerel, big pike, big bowfin along with small bass. We scraped together a small, very small 6 fish limit for a bit less than 10lbs. Fish came shallow on wood rock and beside docks with square bill cranks. Fished weed lines a lot with slower presentations along with the square bill and chatterbaits.....nothing.
We weighed in for the points and hung around for the BBQ and maybe scrounge a raffle prize. No luck there. So Tom Reynolds is announcing the winners, top Reynolds customer, Ranger Cup......yep me! Top Ranger. Total surprise. Glad we stuck around. Lol
Left Maine at 2 am, fished tournament getting home at 9:30pm with a 6 am wake up call for a youth day on the water with rod and gun club.
I will sleep good tonight. Great trail. Looking forward to Champlain next month.

Need to find some big green fish for Saturday.  0 for 4 so far. Sucked it up on Cob. Last chance for me until June. :hmm:

Epic afternoon on GP yesterday afternoon. Smallies were on fire. 3 of us fishing, easy 100 plus in 4 hours of fishing. No clue how many. Tripled and doubled up many many times. Best 7 fish close to 28 pounds. Most coming on slow rolled swimbaits. Pike, Crappie, white perch all bonus fish.
Went back today, we decided to count. It was much slower. Fished 8 hours fishing deep early and going back to shallow swim baits later. 106 smallies.
Just 5 days earlier, tournament day, where were these fish. Lol Like night and day......I told my partner they would come. They did.
Great Pond is awesome.

Starts for me Saturday  ;D  Candlewood, Mousam, Great Pond, Cobbossee, Winni in next few weekends. Good thing we'll have a few weeks off after that. Jerk bait is going to wear me out.
Spent the day transitioning from an Okeechobee boat ready for New Engand prespawn mixed bags.

$15 for a chatterbait have to admit I bought some. Do I need an INTERVENTION? They were on sale. Lol

I made one prototype for fishing letdowns and bushes....flat eye arkie with fiber guard. Went through the wood and caught some nice ones......before I did lose it. Glad it wasn't 15 bucks!

Made an order when I got home on Sunday with my order today. Will have a few dozen next trip out.

Struggled this season with big fish..... finally breaking the 5 pound mark earning lunker with a 5.74 at the NEPVA tournament. A few days later a near twin on a different lake
Caught this one in 27 foot of water "video" fishing.  I have some success with dropping on smallies but this is among the very few largemouth that I have successfully dropped on.

I was kicking myself for not getting up early and fished today. Opted for yard work instead. By noon I was stretched with sweat, got a lot done. Quit....
Got out of the shower to wind horizontal rain and STATIC. Facebook is full of pictures like this one from Sebago Lake

Of course Sebago is the lake I drive by when I go fishing 😎

Yesterday during my shortened trip up country in my annual quest for a 4lb brookie on a fly I was attacked. Hooked a fair salmon 15-16 inches; it was flying around like salmon do when a pair of thieves working together attacked my fish. My drag screams (like  it would for a 4lb brookie) and then stops. Thinking it broke off instead reel in a almost dead salmon with beak marks.
I had heard of loons doing this but first time as a witness/victim. Released the fish.....choke on this I said to the loon. It took it a while but watched it swallow it whole. Then the pair took position waiting for more.

This beast had a hook in its jaw with what looked to be 30 lb test. My Lucky Craft slender pointer dodged a bullet. Will need a few new trebles.
