Fishing Photos Forum / Cold and Windy, but the Bass were chewing!
« Last post by Curt - NC on March 16, 2023, 09:37:54 AM »
The last two days here have been cold and windy. But I have caught bass on both days, including these two that I caught yesterday evening.

This one hit a spinnerbait on a windy flat.

This one ate a soft plastic bait tossed near a small weedy hump with the wind blowing past it. What a fight!!  :o

Her belly was tight and swollen.

But some towns in Mass got 30 inches and no power.. feel bad for them having to deal with wet heavy snow like that!

Glad you had it easy!

But 30 inches in MA?  :o

We ended up with no snow and no where near the winds they predicted for us   8)

Nothing but rain here so far on the coast.   Supposed to get an inch or so of snow as the storm pulls away then the wind kicks in.

AT least you didn't get hammered with heavy snow!

Well, it looks like the weather has taken us two steps forward and three steps back. But not just in the Northeast!

Here in Southeast NC this morning it was 34 degrees at 8 AM  :o

And tonight there is a freeze warning in effect until tomorrow morning.

I noticed that you guys there in New England have been getting hit with a mild Nor'easter as well.

Here in NC, we will be hitting 70 again by Friday/Saturday, but daytime temps will dip down into the high 50s again by Monday, increasing gradually into the mid to high 60s by the end of next week.

I'm sure you're all with me when I say that I'll be glad to see this turn around!

The Hawg Forum / Small Baits for Big Fish
« Last post by Curt - NC on March 08, 2023, 09:37:58 AM »
One of the things I have re-learned since moving to NC is that small baits can catch big bass!

Many years ago I used to occasionally use 3 or 4 inch grubs to catch bass. And some of those bass were big.

I also know of another person who used grubs just about every time he fished. And he also caught some very big bass on them.

Fishing in small ponds here has taught me all over again that small baits can catch big bass.

So, the next time you're on the water, don't hesitate to try smaller baits to catch those big bass that are leery of the bigger baits that they have seen so much of!

It happens every year  :P

January and February we had many 50 and even 60 degree days but now were in the 30's and low 40's
March is the transition month, good thing is it should slowly start to warm  8)

Looks like March isn't going to be a warm one for you guys  :crying:

I hope it warms up for you soon, so you can get your boats back in the water and set the hook again!
