Boating Forum / garmin force/ dakota lithium batteries
« on: March 21, 2021, 06:45:51 PM »
hey all, it's been a long winter!  I just waanted to give an update on my trolling motor / batteries. I bought the garmin force trolling motor last march and I used it all year, it is awesome! I love the power this thing has and it's so quiet! you don't hear the robotic servo noise like the ultrex has and the brushless motor is super quiet. it pulls my stratos 295 at a whopping 4.8 mph (gps) the anchor lock is spot on and the wireless foot pedal is really nice. I love everything about the garmin, the only thing i am not crazy about is the plastis skeg. it is mounted with 4 screws and replacable. I replaced it twice last year because i hit a rock and some wood. they only cost 19 bucks so its not too bad, i guess it was designed that way to protect the motor. if anyone wants a motor that has big balls this is the one for you!  Also at the same time i bought three 100ah lithium batteries from dakota lithium, they are very light (26lbs) so i got rid of about 150lbs off the back of my boat. I like to troll fast and move all day long. I ran the boat four 8hr tournies before i charged them up and they were charged in less than four hours. i would gladly recommend these batteries! so we will see how they do this year.

hey all, looking for any feedback on the garmin force trolling motor. I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on getting one. I've read a lot of good things on them and I already have the garmin electronics to pair with it. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything bad about them?

hey all, first I'd like to say it's now been three years and 3 months cancer free!! I'm closing in on my goal of five years. I'v had a few surgeries and struggle with speech prosthesis issues but manage to get through it and treat every day as a gift! If anyone doesn't believe cancer sucks just ask me. I lost my little brother charley last june then my father in law last july and now my big sister michelle on jan 6th. what I've learned is that if you have something that doesn't feel right please persue it! don't let the doctor tell you it's nothing. get a second opinion!  ok, with that all said I've put together my wed night trail. I made a few changes and raised the entry fee to 30 dollars per boat. I'm going to try to get a few rhode island tournaments together for Friday nights. so here is what I have for now. I hope everyone can get a chance to enjoy some of these events! thanks and I'll see you out there!

hey all, I've put together a new schedule of once a month tournaments. we have some different lakes and some tournies are sunday and some are Saturday from noon to 8pm. a lot of guys were asking for something different so we'll see how this works out. hope to see some of you out there! also I'll be getting my Wednesday night schedule together and will post it soon. thanks and hope we have a very early spring!

Boating Forum / two questions ?
« on: January 16, 2019, 07:50:45 PM »

I have two props I need to have repaired, doe's anyone have any recommendations as to where I can bring them? second question,, I have a 200 hp Evinrude and I would like to get it serviced and I'm looking for a place to take it. someone told me about a marina place in rhode island . I think its off rt 3 . any help would be great! I don't want to take it to Norwich.

I guess the ct deep had a little mix up when issueing permits and double booked some. so they called me and asked if I minded switching a couple around so this week june 6th is at Mansfield instead of aspinook and next week june 13 th it will be at aspinook ! thanks guys hope to see some of you out there.

Boating Forum / trolling motor batteries

I need some advise on my trolling motor issues' I had a 80lb fortrex on my boat but it seemed like the batteries wouldn't last for a full tournament,so I bought a 112lb fortrex and added a third battery and I still cant make it through a full day. now,i'm an electrician so I constantly put a meter on my batteries and load test them they seem to be fine and they all charge up good. I hava napa marine group 27 batteries 2 of them are 2 seasons old and 1 is new last june. I do like to troll pretty fast but the 112 fortrex running at 60 per cent doesn't last. I'm thinking of trying three agm batteries. does anyone have any advise about them ? I know they cost more and if anyone knows where I can get a deal on 3 of them please let me know. thanks

hi all just to let anyone who fishes my wed night trail,  my tournament for 8/9 on billings lake has been changed to glasgo pond. the deep has billings as a bass management lake and they don't give any waivers for their slot limit in july or august. so if you know anyone who fishes them please help me spread the word thanks. my other club has had a tourney on glasgo and we caught some nice fish so that is good news after the massive drawdown. thanks mike p.
