Fishing Tackle & Equipment Reviews / Abu Garcia
« on: February 20, 2015, 09:25:11 AM »
Abu Garcia Veritas 6'6" med action spinning rods are a must for me. And for 100$ a pop you cant go wrong (in my opinion) Good backbone. Light. Comfortable to hold all day.  the last foot is nice and soft (but not Uglystick soft) for a good set with soft plastics (houdini shads super flukes senkos etc) but still tough enough for when you're throwin frogs in the jungle. The snap is perfect for fishing jerkbaits. To me its the best all around rod i own (and i have quite a few). This may be biased considering I just love Abu's gear in general. I fish em with Revo and Orra reels and love it. I also fish an Abu 7' med Villain. A little stiffer in the last foot than I prefer but still a very solid sensitive rod. With a dimpled colorado blade spinner bait and braided line that rod will vibrate out of your hand! haha. very sensitive. I cannot speak to Abu's customer service and for good reason. I've simply never had issues with any of their equipment. I snapped a handle on a Veritas once but its not their fault that I slammed the hatch of the Tahoe on the rod because I'm not paying attention haha. Anyway just figured I'd give them a plug. Great gear cant see myself ever fishing a different brand. My wife is a Shimano lady and thats another whole topic. But check em out if you havent already

The Hawg Forum / Sebago Help
« on: February 19, 2015, 11:46:48 AM »
I have a cottage right on Sebago for the first week of August. I know its a really long ways away but im excited so its all I been thinking about. I'll be on the westside of the lake by Northwest River. I'll be bringing my boat. Anyone have any experience with fishing Sebago?  im already expecting people to say 'dont waste your time go to hancock or somewhere else' but I want to learn Sebago because im going to make it a point to start going up there when i can. I went up end of july with my brother to target lakers caught one real nice one (9lbs and some change) and then we switched off and started bass fishin. all we really got into was little cookie cutter smallies (under a pound) and thats about it. Was reading an article about draggin 3/4-1oz football jigs with creature baits on bottom for smallies around the northern end of the lake. Anybody with any experience would be greatly appreciated. largemouth.  smallies. either way dont matter.  not lookin for secrets or anything crazy just lookin to catch some fish and i dont want to just take the easy way out and fish a pond nearby thats loaded and you can just pluck em all day. Thanks in advance
