Those are definitely some nice fish!

I think the fish are trying to figure out what the heck is going on with the weather  (giggle)

Used trolling motors sell like hotcakes. I recently sold a used Minn Kota Maxxum that I replaced with a new Fortrex.

The Fortrex was listed on FB Marketplace one evening and was claimed that same day, being picked up the next afternoon.

With your boat, you don't necessarily need an Ultrex with Spot Lock. More thrust would help to hold you in place, albeit not as convenient as Spot Lock.

Spot Lock is especially great if you fish water that's deeper than 8-10 feet regularly.

For me, I opted to install Talons on my boat instead, since the vast majority of the fishing I do is in water less than 10 feet deep. That's just my personal preference, though, while others may prefer the Spot Lock option.

For me, because I spend a lot of time in shallow lakes with lots of rocks, I would not want to have a trolling motor trying to hold me in place on a rocky flat with 10+ MPH winds blowing  :nope:

I would much rather have the Talons down, holding me absolutely still, with no chances of it drifting and crashing into those boulders, destroying transducers and/or that very trolling motor that's supposed to hold me in place.

I honestly hope nobody vandalizes it or steals the items from it that could be stolen. I wouldn't be surprised to see these popping up at other locations throughout the state.

It would be interesting to put a trail cam nearby to see what people actually do with it  (giggle)

Although I like the idea of them putting this there because it allows people to clean their boats, I agree that it won't last long with vandals being vandals.

And in the long run, a boat cleaning station won't fix the weed problem at Chapman Pond.

I wonder how many tens of thousands of $$ they spent on this genius idea.  :hmm:

I think we are adding China Lake to the mix. Androscoggin Lake was also in the hunt but, apparently there is a huge Father's day tourney there tomorrow and it will get very heavy activity.

@thirsty Let us know how the trip goes!

@Joe P fishes in Maine annually.

@Eric-Maine lives there. Maybe he can help.

I have fished in Maine also, but way up the coast, around Ellsworth. And that was many years ago.
