Brazzy, thanks a bunch for the advice on Stafford.  Its looking like early to mid week I'm going to give it a shot.  Unfortunately I don't have any electronics on my small setup.  You have laid it out pretty clear with the tips in the above thread.  I'm going to study the lay of the lake today and message you later today of Monday.

Curt - a lot of testing but glad you discovered the problem.  Hope the bad spool was not newly purchased.  I would have guessed that maybe you had a little scratch in one of guides on that rod.  Glad you got it resolved.  Great article btw!!!

I have a 10.5 ft Pelican with a trolling motor on it.  Tried Wordens yesterday, one small dink.  First time there though.

Mitz - thanks for the list of lakes.

toadhunter - I live in Bristol, RI but work in Providence so 95 is accessible within minutes so I can go just about anywhere.

Looking for few spots to fish in Rhode Island.  Wife and kids are gone for 2 weeks so I have 14 days of fishing ahead of me.  If anyone has a few suggestions I would appreciate it.  Thanks

Weighed in at 8 lbs even. Guided trip for 8 hrs. If anyone is headed down there in the wintertime look up Kevin Longcast. Been with him for 4-5 trips so far and he's awesome. He's got all the equipment, all you need to do is bring a lunch and sunscreen.

Hey All.  Haven't been on in a while and not been fishing much due to work and family.  Thought I should finally share the big girl I caught back in February at the Big O.  We fished shiners in the morning then plastics in the afternoon.  She came on a shiner about an hour into the day.  New personal best for me!!  Hope all enjoy the pics...

Discrepancies or not - must have been a good fight and a lasting memory for that fisherman.

Great to know there are some really big fish around in RI.  That's one old bass!!

Only time I was there (February) we used shiners in the early morning until 9-930ish then went to plastics and swim baits for the remainder of the day.

Casted shiner up tight to the weed line and waited until bobber started going crazy(which was shiner getting nervous) then bobber would go under, set the hook and enjoy the fight.
Shiners were bought at Roland Martin Marina.
Location where we fished shiners: after you get through the locks and enter main lake take a left, roughly 3 miles NNW is a canal that runs into the town of Moore Haven; fished the north side of that canal on the main lake.

Fished plastics and swim baits all over the very south end of the lake (South Bay area).  Flipping plastics in good looking cover and dragging swim baits over the top of thin cover.

Attached 2 pics so you can see the weeds in the background.  Both fish were caught on shiners in pics.
