« on: April 12, 2021, 12:40:18 PM »
I have a 2004 Nissan 9.9HP 4 stroke does anyone know of a place that repairs Nissan/Tohatsu?  I live in Cumberland if that makes a difference. It is getting gas to the carb but will only run for a few seconds than it dies.

The Hawg Forum / Beach Pond Ramp
« on: April 29, 2016, 10:14:38 AM »
Can someone let me know where the ramp is for Beach Pond. I think it is in CT but I saw this on the State of RI page:

There is a boat access at this site on the Connecticut side, but it is not suitable for the launching of larger craft.

Is an 18ft boat a "larger craft"?

Ice Conditions / Before or after New Years
« on: November 27, 2015, 10:08:14 AM »
I'm guessing we won't be on sad ice until after 1/1/2016 here in RI. Hopefully we don't get 80 feet of snow like last year. Can't wait to hit the ice.

Fishing Tackle Q & A / Curados at Bass Pro
« on: May 31, 2011, 04:39:53 PM »
Don't know if this is the right area to post this but was looking at the Bass Pro Flyer and they have Curado 200 for 139.88.  My guess is the price reduction means they are coming on with a new model sometime this summer/fall.  Just figured I would let everyone know.

Northeast US Lake Conditions / Smith and Sayles (Sand Dam)
« on: May 13, 2011, 09:57:34 PM »
Tried to hit Sand Dam today but the water was too low to lunch the boat and I don't think you could launch a jon boat without getting muddy walking out to the water.  The ramp is completely out of the water.

Never been to Beach Pond and thinking about hitting it during the week can anyone let me know anything about it?  Weedy? Sandy? Deep? Docks?  How's the ramp?  Does it get pounded?  Anything you can help with would be much appreciated.

The Hawg Forum / Bass Virus
« on: March 28, 2011, 03:15:57 PM »
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A virus that targets largemouth bass has been detected :o
for the first time in Rhode Island, the state Department of Environmental
Management said Friday.

Federal scientists at the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's Lamar Fish Health
Center in Pennsylvania found the virus in a sample of fish taken last fall
from Olney Pond in the Lincoln Woods State Park, the DEM said in a news
release.

Largemouth Bass Virus (LMBV) does not affect humans or other fish species,
the DEM said.

LMBV was first isolated in Florida in 1991, and the first large-scale fish
kill happened in 1995 in South Carolina. Since 1995, LMBV has been found
in 17 southeastern states and has spread along the Mississippi River and
into Lake Champlain. The virus is suspected to have originated in
Southeast Asia.

Northeast U.S. Fishing Reports / Indian tonight
« on: June 22, 2010, 11:40:59 PM »
Hit Indian from about 6 to 9:30 PM tonight and was either throwing a Huddelston Grass Minnow or a big swimbait.  The Grass Minnow was getting murdered by perch, Pickerel, and short smallies so I moved over to some big swimbaits.  I only got 2 to 3 hits on the swimbait but one of them was huge that shook the lure on the jump.  There was a light wind and some showers.  If I didn't have to work in the morning I would have stayed late.  There was also a bunch of bait fish jumping everywhere out back. Might go again Thursday night if I can get out of work at a decent time.

Northeast U.S. Fishing Reports / Wallum Lake
« on: May 16, 2010, 05:37:57 PM »
Hit Wallum yesterday to break in the motor and there was a tourny going on .  The wind was blowing throughout the day and I fished from around 6 to 1.  Almost all the beds I saw were already empty I only saw a few LM on beds.  I started out throwing a 5" swimbait in perch color and the pickerel and perch were hitting so I switched off to a suspending jerkbait in deeper water but nothing was interested in that.  Threw the jig a bit and missed a couple (not very good fishing jigs).  I ended up putting on a Damiki Hydra and that was what they wanted.  I caught some smallies fishing deep points and caught largemouth right next to shore.  It was a good day but would have been a bit more enjoyable if it was so windy.  Can't wait to get up there again soon.
