Post by: toadhunter on August 03, 2019, 02:23:44 PM
@ProvidenceBassHunter and I caught a bunch of Smallmouth today, unfortunately we only caught about one keeper Largemouth and about 6 keeper Smallmouth, the biggest one crushed my buzzbait and made the day.

Looks like some river fishing! Small rivers can be some of the best daytime topwater action ever

Fished the Mohawk R. in a tournament years ago and the winning weight was on a buzzbait in an early morning fog. Too bad I wasn't fishing in the same boat... :-[   In fact the guys who won it had to cull over 15 smallies to determine which were largest seeing as how the school held the same size fish. The fish caught on the surface were over 35' of water near the lock.

Over the years I have won a handful of tourneys on buzzbaits. But it's been quite a while since that has happened for me.

There is one thing for sure. When the bass are on a good buzzbait bite, it's hard to beat the quality you'll catch!
