Ohio angler catches 10-pound Lake Erie smallmouth, sets Great Lakes Record

A monster 10.15 lb. smallmouth was caught on Thursday, November 3 in Lake Erie.

The fish broke a 68 year old record.

That thing is a beast for sure!  Lake Erie is a smallmouth factory  8)

It's to bad they killed it just for a line in the record books. In a youtube video the DNR rep says they were going to cut the head open and take the ear bone out to age it.

I had no idea that it wasn't released. I just don't get it. Why kill a fish like that just to find out how old it is. Does it really matter if they know how old it was?  :facepalm: :nope:
