I understand where you are coming from. If one of my buddies wants to head out for a night then we'll take the boat and head to the Concord or South Shore. Otherwise, it's too much of a project and it's also very hard to stalk an area with a frog on dead calm water on a skinny river. I have 4 or 5 spots with good shore access within 15 minutes of home. Sometimes the bugs aren't bad, other times I just hit a few spots and am home in an hour or two. Last night they were brutal, so I shut off the headlamp and was done in 30 minutes. But, I caught two (including this one) and chuckle when people tell me there is nothing above 3lbs in there.
