Topic: Way to keep soft plastics up on jig head so as not to tear them up

Collared jigs tear soft plastics and they start slipping down after a few fish. You can either glue them to the jig or replace them. I only use no-collar jigs and those that do have collars I compress with pliers, cut around the hook and wrench the lead off.
what you need:
pliers and wire cutters
24g floral arrangement wire (less than $2 at Walmart for 35 yds)
no-collar jigs

After holding the wire to the eye tie base, I wrap it around once and cut one side off close to the post.   Bend the wire into an L shape that will swing into the plastic and hold it tight without harming the lure one bit no matter how many fish are caught.

Run the lure up the hook and swing the wire into the body to hold it. All of my jigs secure soft plastics and extend their usefulness for many fish caught no matter the size fish.

It's worked for me for over 8 yrs. Plastics don't rip even after over a dozen fish are caught - and large fish at tha
It also works for skirted jig trailers regardless the shape of the trailer. Wrap the wire around once and bend both into L shapes. It allows good action and the trailer stays put.
   Note: The wire used is of a thicker grade for demonstration purposes. 24g works fine.
