Chapmans wash station
« on: June 24, 2021, 10:29:37 AM »
Stopped by the ramp to see how thick the weeds were and saw this. Probably a lot of money for something few will use.
And then there's always the vandals that you know will ruin it :P

I wondered why there was a thing all covered up this spring!! That has to be the states idea to help combat the invasive species of aquatic vegetation that lives in there.
I make baits, so when I fish, I am product testing! And when I am not using baits I make, I am researching.

Although I like the idea of them putting this there because it allows people to clean their boats, I agree that it won't last long with vandals being vandals.

And in the long run, a boat cleaning station won't fix the weed problem at Chapman Pond.

I wonder how many tens of thousands of $$ they spent on this genius idea.  :hmm:

The reason for it is to get the weeds off your boat so you don't transport them to a different Lake. Maine has wash stations at some lakes.

The problem is no one is going to use it.  Don't be surprised if you see someone washing their car with it  ;D

Yeah they just want to stop transport instead of trying to fix the problem. But shoot You see a blue chevy with an aluminum tracker behind it there you bet I will be washing my truck along with my boat!  ;D

It would be interesting to put a trail cam nearby to see what people actually do with it  (giggle)

That's a good idea. Also, the State can run the license plate of people who don't wash the boat or just wash their vehicle. They can send a citation to those people. RI will be flush with money...lol.

I honestly hope nobody vandalizes it or steals the items from it that could be stolen. I wouldn't be surprised to see these popping up at other locations throughout the state.
