2 Talons or Ultrex?
« on: November 05, 2020, 09:36:36 AM »
Looking toward next season, I'm pondering whether I should add a second Talon or upgrade my Maxxum TM to a Ultrex.  (hmm)

I'm leaning toward a 2nd Talon for two reasons.

1 - Cost. A Talon and bracket will cost me roughly $1800. A Ultrex will cost e close to $2500.

2 - I don't fish much water that's deeper than 10 ft., so two 8 ft. Talons will work for me 80-90% of the time to hold me in place.

Obviously, the two Talons and a Ultrex would be the ultimate setup. But my budget is nowhere near robust enough for that  :nope: ::)

I think i would rather have the Ultrex and one talon.  Fishing a point with the wind blowing in your face the Ultrex would come in handy. Plus less weight on the transom.

If you search there are deals to be found on the ultrex.

Joe, that's an interesting perspective that I hadn't thought of. I'm not overly concerned with the weight of another Talon, though, since they're not excessively heavy  :nope:

Gonna have to do some pondering on this one.  :hmm:
