Lake Water Levels

With the lack of rain these last few weeks, local lake and river water levels are dropping like rocks!

Most of the lakes I have been to in the last two weeks are already down almost a foot below normal levels!

If we don't start getting some rain on a regular basis, some lakes will become tough to launch in very soon.

Yeah, i was thinking the same thing.  Surprisingly i went to Wordens Wednesday and the levels there were still up!

Even though the water level has come up a little, I always do well fishing rivers when the level/current is low. You're not going to catch many monsters in small rivers but catching 10 to 20 fish a day is pretty normal.

Just catching up here on some of the forum topics from my busy Christmas season.

As of now most of the local bodies of water are way up. Actually a lot of the rivers are above the Norm! But its crazy, we had such a dry summer, and fall really that all the rain we got ran right off into the bodies of water. A local guy who buys hay from my uncle, was telling me he dug an 8' hole in a customers yard for a sewer line, and it was pure powder after about 3' of depth. Crazy!! And that was about 2 weeks ago he told me about it.

Yep, everywhere is in much better shape now, there's a submerged shopping cart sitting handle-side down in Angell Pond that is a good indicator. In August the whole thing was exposed nearly down to the folding part. Recently I walked by there and metal of the end of the basket is visible glinting in the sun under a few inches of water. That's a good few feet gained after a nice rainy fall.

It took a while for the fall rains to happen. But when they did, things turned around pretty quickly.
