Topic: Lithium Batteries

  I was wondering if anyone has switched over to lithium batteries? I have been doing a lot of research and think I may make the move soon. There looks to be three I have been considering. One is by Lithium Pro, one is by Miller Tech, and the one I am leaning toward is Battleborn. They are costly but when you can get a longer charge, a faster charge, 1/3 the weight, and a 10 year warranty, they are actually worth it. Any input or experience from anyone on these?

@Bob W - RI What are you finding for prices? I looked a month or two back and about threw up when I saw the prices.

About a grand for a 12V and 2000-2500 for a 24V. With a charger expect to be about $2500 in for a 24V set up. Thinking about dedicating one 24V battery to the trolling motor and then letting all my electronics run off of 1 12V lead acid and having a lead acid cranking battery.

On a positive note Tracker threw their name in the ring. So we should see more and more competition and once everyone gets on board the prices will come down.

That's what i thought I remembered seeing. Sticker shock, to say the least, at least for me. I know they have their advantages, but laying out $1000 for a single battery is not doable for everyone

 The ones I have been looking at, and like the best are the Battle Born brand battery. They have come down to $850.00 - $950.00 with free shipping and the longest 10 year warranty. These are compatible with the Minn-Kota charger, as some other brands are not. I like the 27 pounds they weigh too! I prefer the 12 volt battery over a 24 volt battery so in an emergency situation I can swap them with ease. I only have room for 3 batteries so I may go with 2 of these, and a AGM for my cranking/electronics. Still need to do a little more research, and saving!

You should check out Dakota lithium batteries. I have been researching them for a few months and finally I ordered the Dakota lithium 36 volt 100Ah kit. it includes 3 - 12volt 100ah batteries and a charger for each battery. the package is 2399 with 10 dollar shipping charge. they do not charge tax ! the 24 volt kit is much cheaper. they also have a 11 year warranty! they have been supplying batteries to the pro's for a coupole years now. they even had a booth set up at the classic. It's well worth you checking them out. I should be getting mine in a couple days. I also bought the garmin force trolling motor and that will be in on Friday! getting excited!

I just checked the site 2, 12volt 100Ah batteries with chargers are 1699! no tax that's a sweet deal!! they're awesome with their customer service also!

Looks like I need to check the Dakota Lithium batteries out too! More home work, but at the price they all are, you need to be sure before you make a move. Thanks for the input guys.

@tritonmike Thanks for sharing that info! Glad to see some deals like that out there. I'm not anywhere near ready to spring for them yet, but that at least gives me some food for thought.
