Almost ice fishing
« on: November 18, 2019, 11:39:23 AM »
Went out yesterday with windy conditions and a temp of 28 and it never got above 36. Caught 7 bass mostly on Jerkbaits and crankbaits. The cranks were the usual cast and slow reel, but with the jerkbaits I used a method I call "crawling". Essentially you cast as far as you can, pay out an additional 20 to 30 feet of line and let the wind slowly drift you along. You don't reel in the line just simply twitch the bait every 5 or 6 seconds until the fish hits. This lets the bait stay at the maximum depth the entire time, almost like trolling but slower.

Went out last Thursday and caught almost all 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 lb bass, all but one was on deep crankbaits 12 ft deep.
