Big win for Paul Mueller who is a guide out on Candlewood. Did it with style pulling in some monster spotted bass on a technique near and dear to my heart that kills it on candlewood.

Was nice to see Paul win it!!

He said that what he did to win was a lot of what he does on Candlewood!

I posted his video on the dragging swimbaits for giant smallmouth thread, but that was the deal. He used a damiki rig (he uses a reins bubbling shaker) and a swimbait. I think the one thing that stuck out was he was using darker colors and for the most part other anglers were mimicking shad and had lighter colors. He was using shad colors but then would throw reins "bluegill" which is essentially green pumpkin with blue and gold flake. Interesting color choice, but it definitely got the job done. I keep trying to learn from him on this because it is so hard to work it as slowly as he does. He just crawls that thing at a painfully slow pace, but man it gets the job done.
