Wordens Pond Dock
« on: October 24, 2018, 06:58:46 PM »
Not sure when it happened, but the old dock at Wordens Pond has been replaced with a newer floating dock.

The old dock was pretty much useless. This is much better.  :yes:

My neighbor did all the concrete work on the new boat ramps the states been doing.  I think he's doing the new echo lake ramp as well.

@ne_dan That's pretty cool  :yes:

I really like the concrete work they've done. My only complaint is with the docks. I would have liked to see them twice as long, and I would liked to have seen the one at Chapman's Pond be a floating dock, not the one they built on poles.

But I'm grateful that these ramps are finally getting some long overdue TLC  :thumbup:

That's the thing. I actually dont mind buying licenses at high prices for other states when you always see progress being made or game wardens around or legit conservation efforts. I went so long paying for RI wondering what it was for.

Most of it is for the Trout stocking program!  I'm glad they started stocking Pike again, haven't caught many the last few years  :(

I hope they put some more pike into Chapmans. That place is a pickerel heaven! I only have one bass to show for the half dozen times I've fished there. But I think I could have fed a small army with the amount of slime darts I have pulled from there.

No doubt Joe! Hoping the pike will limit the pickerel population for sure. It is weird, the 2 lakes around that have pike, chapmans and wordens, I just cant seem to catch bass in. I have caught one bass at Chapmans, and lost a nice 3Lbish fish at wordens. Ive fished both probably 6 times. And it sucks since they are both quite close to my house. I know wordens and chapmans are both great fisheries, but man they have my number!

Since the pike stocking was stopped, the Pickerel have slowly been on the rise, to the point where now they are a nuisance fish there. When the Pike were being regularly stocked and were getting big, they kept the Pickerel in check. The best thing was that if you did catch a Pickerel, it was always a monster, not some little hammer handle.

I hope they continue to stock the pike again for years to come.  :nod:
