Topic: 2016 Quabbin Season about to begin.

Heading into the slow season at work and the busy season of fishing 
Anyone that might be interested in fishing quabbin for smallies and whatever else, might keep an eye on the partners forum thru the season.
I have a couple partners that are usually interested in going but sometimes it just doesnt work out for them 
Last year i fished there more than ever and learned a ton. This season ive added side scan on the boat and am planning on learning more and finding more honey holes. Weather has to be good though

Fished the Q for many years before all the B.S. to be able to fish it now...They will keep increasing regs until they can close it to boating access.

 It's too bad they couldn't just keep it simple, back then it was worth the ride.

Just curious as to what's changed so much to keep you from fishing it now.

I'm sure it has to do with the boat washing and tagging of your boat. They require a boat to have been washed at an approved facility and they will wire tag your boat to your trailer. When you launch they cut the tag and re-tag when you leave. A lot of people just use a particular boat just for Quabbin. I think it's like $30 or $40 to have your boat washed. All to prevent zebra muscles and any other evaisive things.

I would also be down with some Quabbin fishing.

If I remember right, they also have a limit of 25 HP, or something like that. Just curious about how these regs compare to maybe 10-15 years ago.

Yup @Curt - RI . 25 HP fourstroke or 20 HP 2 stroke if I remeber correctly.

It might be a bit of a hassle but its soooo worth it. Its the place and kind of fishing i am in to.

What Patrick said about sums it up. Got the t shirt and some incredible days fishing there 25 years ago for about 5 straight years 3 to 4 times a week in the spring summer and fall, then I went too the thousand island's out of NY and well the Q lost it's glitter.
 
When people were talking about 100 smallie days in June @ Winni we were having 100 each guy days at the Q. on hair jigs, grubs and fleck spinner baits(all white/all chart) Winni specials of course.

I know some people that go there now and get regular reports and I here about the new electronics and what you can find there, we could just concentrate on presentation and catch em till your arms fell off.

It is a beautiful place and everyone who hasn't been should go and fish it for sure!
