Get yourself a pair of clippers some old sneakers and have at it! I would say most of them are on private land but I never had one person give me an ounce of problem back in the 80's so you would have to go to know.
There is a bait and tackle store on the island that knows quite a bit about the freshwater fishing, give them a call.
