First on Beach Pond for me
« on: July 21, 2014, 11:20:36 AM »
I was kayaking with my wife yesterday afternoon on Beach Pond. It was crazy out there! At least 5 boats towing at any given time, plus a bunch of others just playing and a decent wind. Once we came around to the north side of the pond it was a little quieter and less windy, but as we cruised quietly along the shore we saw a Bald Eagle fly overhead and then perched on a tall pine tree. It was right where the state line crosses the shoreline. It was pretty cool to see, It just looking over the water. That was a first sighting for me on Beach Pond. Not too mention, once he flew away, I had to bring in my line because I had trolling a crankbait as I was paddling...I caught my first walleye! Total surprise. It was only about 12", but fun either way.

It sure does get busy. I'm there fairly often but haven't been that time of day on a nice Sunday afternoon in a while...now I remember why!

Ya, Beach Pond is on my list of places to stay away from on weekends in the summer, along with Watchaug Pond. Absolute zoos  :o
