Does anyone in RI use Navionics chips in they're units?
« on: July 01, 2014, 11:01:44 AM »
Okay so i recently purchased my first Unit with GPS in it. Of course there is always a catch with these things  >:( my lowrance unit came with a Navionics inland lakes card, but it only contains about 30-40 lakes in the southeast. Nothing in new england. I am now looking into spending 100$ on the Navonics Lake insight PRO. I see that it has just about every lake and pond in RI/CT/MA but 90% of them are "shoreline only" which from what i have read does basically nothing to show depths, contours etc on the bodies of water i would be fishing.

Anyone out there have the Lake insight pro installed on they're unit and can verify this? i dont want to waste 100$ on something that will basically do nothing for me. I can see all of the lakes and ponds just fine on my unit currently. But if i can get this card and see depths, ledges, and contours then its well worth it.

Mapping options available here: http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Products/Mapping/

maybe a different one would be better? really have no idea this is my first real unit

For the lakes you fish, don't waste your money! It won't show you much more than what you already see on your fish finder.
