Garmin echo 151DV or Lowrance Elite x4 HDI!?

GARMIN  http://www.basspro.com/Garmin-echo-151dv-Fishfinder/product/13081606163819/

LOWRANCE  http://www.basspro.com/Lowrance-Elite-4x-HDI-Fishfinder/product/1311111424/

Well i bought the Garmin echo 150 last season from west marine. I have been pretty happy with it for a 100$ unit, but things have gone wrong with it. Fortunately i purchased the 2 year protection plan from west marine and i will be replacing the unit next week.

Pros about my current Echo 150 (no longer being produced)
Small, easy to read and setup
Uses next to 0 power

Cons:
Power cord broke already, i have to tape it a certain way to get it to work
Depth and reading is intermitten. sometimes the unit likes to stop reading or the depth goes nuts, this could be user error maybe a setting is wrong? i have also grouded the transducer a few times by mistake, this may have damaged it.

So now im not sure if i should stick with the next Garmin product (the 151DV) or try a lowrance unit.

Echo 151DV pros
same type of menu and setup i am already familiar with
Larger screen then the Lowrance unit
price point! Lowrance Down vu unit is 200$
has HD-ID and Down Vu imagning in 1 transducer
But im worried that the power cord may fail again quickly like my first unit

Lowrance Pros
Color screen
Back track- so i can see what i recently covered
They claim thier transducers are more powerful then garmins
Advanced signal processing (this automatically adjusts settings so i can get the best view no matter depth or structure around me

So im pretty torn with what unit i should go for. They both seem great for the price. Currently i am leaning towards the Garmin because of the down scan imaging. But i would love feedback from anyone who has owned a lowrance unit

I haven't had any Lowrance units. I did have a Garmin on my G3 Bass Boat when I bought it new. I don't remember the model. It was pretty basic, but it worked flawlessly for me the 3 or 4 years that I used it. And now I have it mounted in my Coleman Crawdad and it still works perfectly.

Since I haven't had any personal experience with Lowrance, I will refrain from giving my opinion.

I used a Lowrance unit for over 10 years on my boat before upgrading to Humminbird.

I would have no problem using one, good units!
