Chapman Pond in Westerly, RI is iced over 100%. It's still pretty black looking, but with the temps in the forecast, I don't see much chance of it opening up again any time soon.

I guess it's safe to say Winter has arrived

Didn't this happen a few years ago and we ended up with an early spring?  Warm March, cool April then normal?

I think you're right, Ray. Wasn't that 2010, when we had the floods in late March though? 

If that's the case, I remember that the fishing in March that year was fantastic!!

I'll take the warm March, but without the floods, please

I think the rain over night will open it up again.  Could see some heavy rain down here on the coast....

Stopped at the ramp after going to the dump and the ice held.

No open water and i was able to walk on it. Surprised no one was fishing yet

Wow... can't believe it's safe after the rain we had! But the temps did drop right back down after the rain finished up, so it kept it frozen. Snow coming tomorrow, so it looks like we're setting up for a real winter this year

I drove by there last night after dark and I could see lights reflecting on the water, so I figured it must be wide open again!

Doesn't look like it will be frozen over again any time this week, with the current forecast. But next week might do it.

Drove by Chapman's Pond yesterday afternoon and it looked like there was some ice forming again.

The forecast for the next week or two is a little iffy, so we'll have to wait and see if it ices up completely again.

OK. Here's the latest update on ice in the area:

EVERYTHING is frozen, including the saltwater ponds and coves

The whole upper bay is frozen over from Gaspee Point  going north.

It's incredible for sure. I haven't seen so much frozen saltwater, ever!

Might still be do able ! Water is so very low I am not sure that I will give it a go  33 months in a row might be in jeopardy. Okeechobee is calling me instead

Wow.. hard to believe anything is still open in Maine! We're locked up tight here in RI and CT, including saltwater ponds, rivers and saltwater coves.

Even with the forecasted weather for the weekend, I don't think we'll see open water here again for a while. Tough to tell, though, with the extreme swings we keep seeing with the temperatures.
