Abu garcia bail assembly problems
« on: June 25, 2013, 02:10:00 PM »
I was recently doing some maintenance of my Abu garcia 354i spinning reel and when re-greaseing  my bail assmbly my bail spring poped out and now i have no idea how to fix this. i have tried to put it together several times but something is not right.

Can anyone help me out with this?

Note: the small metal piece i am sure is what retracts the spring but after several attempts i can not get it to work the proper way..

also this is just so the bail closes upon reeling...if i can not fix this is it still okay to just manually close it? im worried if i catch anything the bail will open right up while trying to reel in the fish

The Abu Garcia website should have schematics for your reel. It'll show a blowup of all the parts and how they're supposed to go together.

The only way to know for sure is to put it back together and make a few casts in the back yard.

You should always close the bail manually anyway, helps eliminate line twist.
Men and fish are alike, they both get in trouble when they open their mouths...
