Wide Open
« on: January 18, 2013, 01:46:26 PM »
Went out for a meeting with a client this afternoon. Drove by some shallow, swampy areas and a few small bodies of water.

The swampy areas had some skim ice here and there but were pretty much open. Chapman Pond and other small ponds were all wide open.

Supposed to get back up into the 40s for the weekend, so I don't foresee any new ice in the next few days.

But next week is supposed to get cold again, with highs only in the 20s for Monday through Thursday, so I expect we'll have some ice again by next weekend.

Wow! I can't believe how fast everything melted. We went to bed with snow everywhere and woke up to completely bare ground  :o

Just goes to show you how fast things can change, I guess!

Bring on Spring  ;D

Just took another ride to Chapmans. A light ripple across the whole pond, no ice to be seen anywhere!

Wow. Another month to go before there's no chance of it re-freezing. I wonder how February will treat us  :P

Headed out this afternoon and found skim ice on the swampy areas.

The next 5 days are looking like highs only in the low-to-mid 30s, so the nights should see some waters freezing back up if the wind stays down long enough.
