During the past year or more I have spent hours and hours of my time trying to find a solution to keeping spammers out of the forums. I also spent time each and every day sifting through dozens of new accounts, trying to sort out the bogus spammer accounts being created from the occasional legitimate new forum member. Some days I would see upwards of 75+ new accounts being created by spam bots in an effort to inundate the forums with spam messages, etc.
Sometimes I would inadvertently delete a legitimate new account because it got caught in the barrage of other new accounts. I've also had to block thousands of IP addresses from the forums to keep these people out. This also resulted in a legitimate user accidentally being banned from the forums. I apologize for this.
But... finally, I think I have found the solution and I have gone more than 24 hours now with no new spammer accounts!!
Now, when a new member registers for an account here, they will need to answer 5 basic questions to verify that 1) they are a human and not a bot, and 2) if they
are a human, that they actually know something about bass and bass fishing, so I know they are here to share fishing information and not just post spam messages or links back to their bogus websites.
So if you don't know whether a bass is orange or green, or what time of year bass spawn, I guess you just won't be able to create user account here
So again, if you have ever been accidentally banned because your IP address got caught up in a spam filter, please accept my apologies.
