Caught mid May last year in So. Maine, and couldn't figure out why she came in without a fight.
First time for that...

Thank you. and thanks for the welcome.
I caught that on a topwater bait with that stuck down her throat.
Don't know how she was gonna eat me lure, but wasn't complaining...  :D

Ya.. I often wonder about that too... how they planned on swallowing another meal while their last meal is still sticking out of their throat  :o

Beautiful smallie! Got love the fact that at least then you were certain you knew what they were eating. Heck of a way to match the hatch.  ;D

Welcome to the site Pete!
Don't let that stinking bass get away!!!!!

Thanks.  Yup, found that out like 3 yrs prior when i was fishin at dusk.  Switched to a white jutterbug cause it was getting dark, and figured i'd just listen since i couldn't see that good anymore.  I caught about 4-5 nice smallies, and 2 of them coughed up small fish.  It took me a little while to locate them and get my topwater "walk the dog" technique down, but was worth it!  I almost fish exclusively that way, probably to my detriment.
I got tons of pics of smallies, and the occasional largemouth too!  A lot of pics from my brother of the strike and them jumping out of the water during the fight! And unfortunately a few of them spitting the hook in mid-air!  Which looks cool, but always leaves me shakin my fist and yelling, " OH you bad fish!"  hehe...

This pic is hard to make out:
There's one smallie with a really nice speckled patterned back cresting the water(left fish), and then just below the water under that left fish, is a second smallie on her side. Dark green with a white belly.  That's why i call this pic "241".  Happens once and a while, but usually a small and large, or two small fish, but these were both large.  Was strange getting them to the boat, sort of cork screwing and each on a treble.  Another reason i use a net now too.

Oh ya.. I see that white belly under the water. I had this happen once with a Smallie on one treble and a largemouth on the other. These fish hit a floating Rapala being twitched in shallow water in the Spring.

They were about 2 lbs. each.

Here it is:
