A Thankful Dad
« on: September 02, 2006, 07:03:16 PM »
I went fishing this morning with Bob W. We had a great time on the water together!

After I got home and covered the boat, I had just sat down at my computer and the phone rang. When I answered it there was a woman on the other end who informed me that she was with my daughter, who had just been in a serious car accident.

My wife and I rushed out the door to the accident scene, which was only a mile from our house.

Some guy had pulled directly in front of her while she traveled at 50 MPH. She had absolutely zero time to react and hit him instantly.

Her car was totaled but, thankfully she was only slightly hurt, with a fractured wrist and a small cut on her chin, which the doctors were able to glue back together, instead of stitching it up. She also has a few bumps and bruises.

To look at the two vehicles you would think that there would have been major injuries, but God was watching over her and kept her from major injury  ;)

I'm glad she didn't hurt too bad Curt!

There are a lot of morons on the roads today, you always have to keep an eye out for them :P

Here are some photos of the car afterward. Keep in mind that this was a 50 MPH collision and that she hit the other vehicle broadside as he shot out in front of her.

Note the rear quarter and rear wheel! On impact, her car spun around and the rear quarter of her car hit the rear quarter of his truck.

It's kinda hard to see in these photos, but the engine actually got pushed backwards and upwards. Notice the angle of the engine??

Overall, this car took the impact in an impressive way considering that it basically hit a non-moving object.

Now you can see why I am so thankful that she was able to walk away from this with only minor injuries  :)

Curt, what kind of car was that?

It looks like the drivers compartment held up pretty well!  Probably saved her from serious injury.

Joe, it "was" a Saab!

And, yes... they do hold up very well in collisions.
