Western Maine Cottage
« on: January 22, 2006, 11:08:20 AM »
We have a camp for rent by the week and some weekends (October 15-May 15) in Brownfield Maine (western Maine). Several online friends used our camp last summer and reported a good time and good fishing. These weekends in the late fall and spring are an outstanding opportunity to fish Maine at her best. There is a good trail system in Brownfield and Fryberg for snowmobiling as well in the winter (when there is snow)
There is a 2man basshunter boat for your use on Pequawket pond and there are numerous lakes and ponds to explore nearby in your boat

For more info and pictures see: http://www.cyberrentals.com/USA/Maine/Western-Maine/vacation-cottage-Brownfield-Pequawket-Pond/p123647.htm#contact

Looks really nice, Eric!

Didn't somebody from these forums stay there last year?

Also, is there a launch ramp for full sized boats on the lake or is it just for small boats?

The lake is perfect for my small bass hunter and there lots of nearby lakes for your boat. I discourage the use of larger boats in Pequawket especially in the summer. There is a primative launch that can be used with a good 4 wheel drive early and late in the season. You have to drive through some pines that will beat your truck up some. I take my daughter there some in the Champion early in the season.

Yes, Joe came up in September.

My favorite is Lovewell, this place is full of 2 - 3 pounds smallys. It also has some nice Largemouths!  I've also fished Kezar Lake, Moose Lake, Hancock Pond and Long Lake. There's a lot of lakes within an hour of Eric's place.  What i would like to try sometime is doing a float trip on the Saco River, looks like it could hold some nice fish ;D

Heres a pic from the Saco river from last season ;D

This was taken from the old course of the river in Fryeburg. I haven't yet fished the main river though I did once take my boat out into the river from Lovewell. That section is fairly shallow. Someday when the water is high I want to try to get into Pleasant a mile or so above Lovewell via the Saco River. The river that you see in Hiram looks deeper and "horny".

(shameless bump)

 ::)

If you like fishing the  jerk bait the last week of April and the first couple of weeks in May are the time to come to Maine. We should have an early ice out and the fishing should be good early. My personal best largemouth and smallie came in April/early May...8lb 5oz and 6lb 14oz.
