I was wondering about the number of smallies too. But I was thinking that maybe the increase in the number of them being caught was just a seasonal thing due to the fact that this time of year brings them up shallower where they are more vunerable.

But I guess if some people have been replenishing them, that's a good thing too ;D

Ray... you're right!

I think the first post about lousy weather was made way back in December  :o

Hey Art,

glad to see you finally made it in here again :)

Hope all is well with you!

Fishing has been OK, but this lousy weather is really starting to get to me  >:(

Water Temp: 59 - 62

Air Temp: 50 - 60

Wind: Flat - 10 MPH

Skies: Clear

Depth: 1 - 4 ft.

Baits: Floating Rapala, Spinnerbait

Somewhat tough bite today, but I have seen worse.

Landed my first two bass on a Gold floating Rapala in less than 2 feet of water. I cast it out and let it sit until the rings disappeared, then twitched it slightly. The male bass in the shallows slurped it off the surface.

My other two fish hit a white 1/2 oz. Hawgstomper Pro Series Spinnerbait. The biggest fish of the day hit the spinnerbait (3.24 lbs.)

Ended up with 7.18 lbs. Not great, but good enough for a first place finish ;D

On a side note, I saw many good sized bass in the shallows, either cruising or bedding. I tormented one fish for close to a half hour, but the wind came up before I could get him to bite the tube bait. I knew he was catchable, but the wind blew it for me. Oh well....

Look for lots more bedding fish over the next few weeks no matter where you go!

Air Temp: 50

Water Temp: 57 - 60

Wind: 5 - 15 MPH

Conditions: Mostly Cloudy, Cool

Rogers bass were not very nice today!

I tried a variety of baits today, including spinnerbait, jig & pig, 4 inch Ringworm, jerkbait and crankbait.

I ended up catching nothing but pickerel on the Jerkbait. The spinnerbait, jig & pig, buzzbait and ringworm went untouched by anything. I did manage to catch 4 small bass on the crankbait and one keeper. That was it for the day!

There was another club out there with about 12 boats and they were all having just as tough a day as I was.

I hope next weekend is a little better!

For baitcasting gear, I prefer Big Game line... usually 15 lb. test Lo-Vis Green.

I find it to have a very low amount of memory, as long as the weather is reasonably warm. The time that I find the memory factor to be bad is in the late fall when it is still in the low 30s in the mornings.

As for dependability, I rarely have it break on me. When I do it is usually because I have neglected to retie after landing a fish  :-\

I do plan on testing the Mean Green line mentioned in another post.

I will be sure to post my opinions on the line here. I may also write a review of it on the Tackle Review page of Northeastbass.com

I'd like to take you up on the offer to fish Glasgo together sometime, I'm just not sure when.

I'll get in touch with you soon :)

One time while pre-fishing for a tournament on Wordens Pond I headed from one spot to another. As I got close to where I was headed I backed off on the throttle, then I turned the wheel hard to the left and shoved the throttle forward. The boat laid up on its side as I made the tight turn. This was no big deal, but what happened was that the wind got up under the bottom of the hull and gave me a quick scare as it felt like it was about to flip me over instantly. Needless to say, I backed off the throttle immediately and settled my butt down in a hurry  :-[

Thanks for the input!

I guess my question would have to be this:

Does the 8 & 10 lb. test Mean Green line have much memory? I plan on using it on spinning gear.

I have used Berkley Trimax line on my spinning gear for many, many years now. I always bought bulk spools of it that would last me for a few seasons. This has been the best line for spinning gear that I have ever tried... almost the perfect balance between limp and tough.

Unfortunately it is no longer being made and I am just about out of it.

Does anyone know what Berkley made to take its place? I know that they had a "Tournament" line that was it's replacement for a while, but I don't even see that at Bass Pro Shops now.

Anybody have any recommendations?

Tnanks in advance ;D
