Chapmans boat ramp.
« on: October 28, 2017, 11:02:42 AM »
Looks like they finally have started to finish the boat ramp 8)

They started clearing the growth around the ramp and have the barricades they use to block the water while fixing it. Long over due!

They have the dock almost done. Have to see how it holds up against the ice this winter?  They did use some heavy pilings so we'll see! Finish date is early December

Should be nice as they removed all the reeds that overtook the ramp the last few years

That'll definitely be nice. The reeds had really gotten overgrown around the ramp and made it almost impossible to beach your boat.

That's funny... I actually stopped by there yesterday and took a bunch of pics too!

Yes, it does look good!

And having that dock will be a great addition for sure.

I just uploaded a bunch of new pics of the ramp and the surrounding area.

One thing I noticed is that one of the previous pics I took showed the concrete slabs before they were laid in place. There were 5 of them.

The pics you and I took, Joe, show 4 of them out of the water. So does that mean there is only one pad underwater, or did they have one or more already in place when I snapped that previous pic?

Looking back at that pic with the slabs still on dry land, it looks like there might have been at least one more of them before I took the pic, based on the fact that the one with the fork lift under it has boards on top of it, as if it had another one sitting above it at some point.

Hmmm  :hmm:

I think there are more pads in the water.

The pic you took of the pads you can see a couple of spacer boards on top of the single pad. I bet both piles were the same size.

Ya, I noticed that too, that there were spacer boards on top of that single slab. I'm hoping they did it right and built it well into the water!

I'm still trying to figure out how they're going to arrange the parking area. I noticed they placed some new curbing back toward the dog park, but can't tell yet what they'll be doing with it all.  :hmm:

I stopped by the Chapman Pond launch this afternoon to take a look at the dock and see how it's holding up with the ice.

No signs of damage whatsoever. Looks like they buried those piling pretty deep!

On a side not, I can see where someone decided to drive on the area in front of the big sign next to the ramp and left deep tire ruts there in the newly excavated soil

Please, people, drive on and in the driveway and parking area, but stay off the areas where they're trying to grow grass!!
