The Cape
« on: April 25, 2017, 12:38:08 PM »
So I'm sure we have all heard that there are "no fish out on the cape". I wouldn't be surprised if this thread got deleted LOL I just wanted to see what some of your experiences have been. I took a right out there to one of the many small kettle ponds and just took a shot. I know alewives are a main forage out there so I was throwing a Megabass Vision 110 and on the very first cast.. 3lb7oz smally followed by a 3lb3oz a few casts later. All in all on the day got a bunch and put together what would have been ~14lb bag if it were a tournament mostly on jerkbaits and a wiggle wort on a day that I would not classify as a good day to be fishing. Overall I was thoroughly impressed.

Anyone else have any experience out there?

There are no bass on the cape.  (giggle)

Actually, I have only fished there once, as a non-boater in a tourney (20 years ago). The fishing there is excellent. I wish I had specifics for you, but I have no experience there at all other than that one tourney  :nope:

Everywhere you ask you here "there's no bass out there". I find that funny because we drove out there and pull up to the ramp and there was an old drunk guy fishing at the ramp. We go to launch the boat and he stops us . I roll down the window and he walks over and says "hey there's no fish in here".

Been going out here a lot lately. Its a bit of a drive, but definitely worth it if you are looking for some good smallmouth fishing. There is bait everywhere and with a little luck you can hit a school that's fired up.

... I mean... there's no fish out there...

First post here... kayak fishing for the win!

New personal best that I caught in a kettle pond on Monday.
