Ice Conditions 2016 - 2017
« on: December 13, 2016, 07:16:48 PM »
I drove by Chapman's Pond late this afternoon and from what I could see it was 100% iced over. And it didn't look to be skim ice either.

I didn't have time to pull into the launch area to see how thick it is, but it definitely looked like more than a skim. And with the forecast for the rest of the week, it'll get thicker before it warms up again.

Gonna be interesting to see how this winter plays out.

Yeah, i'm hoping that winter will start earlier and leave earlier! Remember it was 65 on Christmas day last year.

The last couple of years it's stayed cold right thru April!

I drove by stump pond in Smithfield today and it was completely iced over.  Hard to believe I was out on candlewood last dec 23rd in shorts!

Half of Chapman's was open today.  The wind that's coming should put a hurting on whats left.
