Recent Rain
« on: September 20, 2016, 01:52:57 PM »
Just wondering if the recent rains will help with any of the lakes or rivers that are so low. Personally, I doubt it, but if anyone sees any difference in any bodies of water, be sure to post here!

I hit a CT lake last night and it was still way, way down. No difference whatsoever.

Fished a small pond tonight that gets a good amount of run-off. The water level was normal, but the one thing i did notice was a lot of bottom sediment floating in the water column. It looks to me that the Fall turnover has started. By the way I caught 7 fish.

Went to Quabbin yesterday. Water was crazy low. They moved the ramp and rental boats down to the end at gate 43. The water being so low drastically changed the layout of the lake. Without electronics, it made for a tough day scrounging out a bite here and there.

Hmmm... hard to fathom the fall turn over starting already. Water temps as of two nights ago were still mid 70s.

Fished another pond today that was down 5 feet from the drought and it's also used for irrigation. Struggled to catch 9 fish, with the low water the fish were super skittish. Found a deeper pocket with green coontail about 5 feet deep, then proceeded to catch 11 more in just 45 minutes.

Was it Coontail or Fanwort? I don't see much coontail around here if any at all.

If it has, and is rooted, it is fanwort...coontail has no roots.
