On my way home from the airport yesterday I drove by a couple of small lakes... Gorton's Pond in Warwick and Canob Pond in Hope Valley.

neither of them had open water, but both of them had a considerable amount of water covering the ice, which means something has been melting.

Looks like some heavy rain moving into the southern New England area this afternoon, so we should be well on our way to some more considerable melting of the rest of the ice that's left. Maybe within a week we'll have open water on some lakes again  ;)

Any idea on how the ice is at Chapmans?  Where is the rain it is just windy here.

I was at the boat ramp yesterday and the whole pond was still locked up tight. Gonna be a late start this year ::)

We got ZERO rain here all day. I've been watching the radar and the rain is all around us, but keeps staying just to the west of where I live :(

I was really hoping we'd get some of it to speed up the melting of the ice.

Cool beans! The wind will only help us, by breaking up any remaining ice  :)

Drove by Chapman's Pond this morning. The lake is wide open and ice-free, with the exception of the south shore, along the swamp. There's still a little bit of ice back there.

The ramp is open, though, so it's definitely accessible to fish!

Pat, with the rain and wind it should be wide open by the end of the weekend, if it's not already. But it would be nice to get some verification from someone who has driven by. It might already be opened up for all we know.

This lovely warm, wet spring weather should break up the rest of the ice that is out there. I think Spring is finally here guys!!!!

Wordens was 70% open a week ago. Since then there have been two soaking rains so it should be good to go.

I'm getting the boat ready tomorrow :D

Curt I thought PowerTroll was bought by another company?  Is it still located in the same place down there?  I think I am going to need to pick up a new battery this year and wanted to get a PowerTroll but thought they were done.  Any info you can provide would be much appreciated.
