First of all, welcome to the forums. As for Tiogue, some others have also mentioned that the lake has been off recently too. I don't fish there so I don't have any real feedback, except that most lakes go through phases every few years. It's not uncommon for a lake to be hot for several years and then slowly go downhill and bottom out. But, it will come back in a few years

I live less than a 1/2 mile from the lake and WISH every day it was a better fishery. However I talked to another guy in our club and said he had a blast out there one night. From 6pm to 12pm he was picking up fish left and right. When I was there a week or 2 earlier I couldn't even buy a bite.
There is no doubt in my mind the fish are in there but where, when and how do you catch em is the question. HA
I do like a challenge so I'm sure I'll torture myself again soon.

I never cared for the lake myself, I do a couple tourneys there yearly and don't think I ever placed in the money. For that fact I don't think I ever had a limit. There are smallies there but have only seen a couple, going back a few years in May the chamber of commerce would hold a fundraiser tourney there and one year a team had 22lbs of smallies. W The lake has potential for a good fishery just can't see why it doesn't produce fish for us....

I know that some good bass have come from there over the years, but it always seems to be hit or miss. That's one of the reasons I never bothered to spend more time there.

It's unlikely that anyone will help. RI DEM has a hands off management policy, meaning that they let a lake run it's course unless there is pollution or something similar.

I wonder if the spring flooding had anything to do with the current conditions?

i dont think it was the flood because it has been this way for 3 years now, last year being the worse, i live on the lake and fish EVERY day and never see so much as a fish chase my bait in. when you throw bread into the water you might only see 1 or 2 sunfish come for it. i know there are asain clams and common carp in the water. i have sonar and fish tv and never do i see any fish on them as well. does anyone know of any LEGAL ways to brin the fish back like buying bass fry or structure? please help my lake!

You can always call DEM and talk to a biologist about your concerns. They might do some electro-fishing to check fish counts, average sizes, etc. It's worth a shot.

DEM has stocked LM bass in the past, not sure what they have done in the past few years. I know for sure they stocked 11" fish in Watchaug, Tuckers, Wordens, and a couple others about 3-4 years back. The warm water fisheries hachery in Arcidia had two ponds full of bass a couple years ago for stocking.
