For those who are thinking of upgrading to the HDS series Lowrance units with side scan technologies and structure scan (LSS1) (Bottom scan).
Here's some info, but it's not for the meek as far as money goes but IMO worth the money.
Here's some video from Lowrance.

This unit looks just like the Huminbird sidesonar. What is the difference between the two with features and price? I have been waiting for the Huminbird to come down in price for the last 3 years from when it came out! Still up there in price! Any input would be great from anyone that has either.

Thanks

The Humminbird sideimaging units scan left and right with a blind spot below the boat where the Lowrance HDS units scan left and right plus straight down so it covers with no blind areas. The structure scan unit (LSS1) is what makes the difference.
What i like about them is what you might think your looking at as far as 2d unit shows and what is actually there. A brush pile may look like a bait ball but with these new units there is no mistaken the difference.
