June 21

5:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Watchaug Pond - RI

This will be a 10-boat tourney only.

I have divided Watchaug Pond into 10 distinct sections. Each boat will fish each hole for 45 minutes, making the tournament 7 1/2 hours.

Non-boaters will be accepted. If you know someone who is fishing as a boater and want to fish with them, you may do so. If you are a non-boater and don't have a partner, I will pair you with someone.

Entry fee is $20.00 per boat. This includes a $5.00 lunker pool.

Payouts will be for 1st, 2nd & 3rd.

Based on 10 entries:

1st - $75.00

2nd - $45.00

3rd - $30.00

Lunker $50.00

I already have 4 boats committed. If you are interested, please reply to this message and I will e-mail you with the address to send your entry fee to.

If you have any questions about the format, etc., please post those questions here and I'll be glad to answer them.

A map of Watchaug, as divided into the 10 holes, is attached to this message. Look for the small green paper clip near the bottom of this message.

Thanks :)

Curt,

I assume there will be a drawing as to starting places on the lake, followed by some order of fishing the other zones...?

Yup... your starting hole number will be drawn from a hat before the tourney. Each hole is numbered on the attached map of the lake.

As your 45 minutes is up, you will then advance to the next higher number on the map. The numbers increase in a counter-clockwise rotation.

At the end of the day, each boat will have fished each of the 10 holes.

I will probably have to invest in some type of small "air horn" to blow at the end of each 45 minute period. These are usually available in small aerosol cans from sporting goods stores, I believe.

Not many entries?   I wonder if it was not a singles event if more people would be interested?  Is it a bad weekend for non SRIBA members for some reason?

I spoke with Mike L and he is interested in doing it also....It's the weekend before they have the top 10 on Watchaug, June 28th...

I plan on bringing Ryan, so it does not matter if it ends up being a team tourney or we fish as singles,....either way is ok with me.  It's Curt's call.

Marty, there's a good possibility that most people are already scheduled out this time of year. Summers are tough when it comes to squeezing in last-minute tournies.

If I had posted this back in February or March I probably would have had more interest.

Stan, at this point, we have 5 boats. I think the easiest thing to do would be to combine some of the holes on the map and make it a 5-hole tourney, fishing each hole for 90 minutes. It's still the same amount of water, but broken down into larger sections.

If I counted Mike Larivee in, I would still need 4 more boats, which probably won't happen.

So, the tourney is now officially a 5-hole tournament.

If it goes well I will run it again next year with 10 holes but I will post it much sooner to allow people to fit it into their schedules.

Curt,

Any ideas as to what the new map will look like, now that we are down to 5 boats....

Oh my 5:00 to when?  Are we going to shorten the time for the tourney or are we going to go around twice?

Stan,

Mind if I follow you down again? After almost getting lost going to Wardens, a place I have fished more than a few time I can't guess where I would end up trying to finding Watchuag at 4am..

Better wait for a reply from Stan on this one. I have no idea how he plans on going. All I know is that I am going to tie my truck to his boat put it in neutral and catch another 45 min of ZZz  ;D
