This is a LMB that my 12 year old neice cought last weekend (5/29/04) at Wakefeild pond in RI. Its her first Bass!  :o  She is in the middle of the picture with one of her Uncles and a friend. No one had a scale thou. What does it look like to you guys? I say about 6.5 lbs.

Hard to tell from the photo, but looks like your guess might be close.

Until they get the scale, measure length and girth, then go here and calculate:

 http://www.geocities.com/Baja/8205/bass_calculator.html

It comes pretty close most of the time!

BTW, be sure to verify any scale you get against a known standard (I use a postal scale located in the lobby of our local post office).  That new Normark I bought reads better than 4 oz. (1/4 lb) low @ 8 lb.  I put a label with a correction table on the back of the scale.

hmm... tough to say. I always hate trying to guess a fish's weight based on a photo. So many variables... how far out was the person holding it, what angle was it taken at, etc.?

But anyway, based on the fact that I also got to see two other photos of the fish, I would have to guess somewhere between 6 & 7 lbs. also.

I love seeing kids defy all of the rules of bass fishing and land big fish like that!

I will also say between 6 and 7 lbs.  The fish looks like it has a big girth to it ;)

Pics are always tough but I'd say 5 and change due to full arm length extension. Great fish.
